Shelvy Manning has personally instructed the baton classes at the Northampton Dance Studios / The Dance Center for over 40 years. She has produced many champion twirlers who have received awards and titles in all levels of competition.

Shelvy is proud to have had students twirl at over 20 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Many have been seen as featured twirlers and received full or partial scholarships.

Shelvy received the 1988 Eastie Award for "Most Dedicated Person to the Advancement of Baton" at the "All East" Regionals.

In 1992, Shelvy became the director of the Miss Majorette of Virginia held anually in the Tidewater area, a state preliminary to the prestigious Miss Majorette of America title.

In 2002 Shelvy was honored as one of the first inductees into the Baton Twirling Museum Hall of Fame.

Shelvy continues to bring quality baton instruction to children, teens and young adults in the Tidewater area. Her classes are regularly scheduled and held on Wednesdays (afternoon and early evening) with private lessons available by appointment.
