Baton Instruction
The school offers complete baton instruction on all levels: Class work, marching unit, team and solo competition.
Baton Classes
Baton classes on all levels, beginner through advanced, are available for children, teens, and young adults of college age. Please call the studio to inquire about classes and enrollment.
Marching Unit
Baton students twirl in many of the local parades each year including the Hampton Holly Days Festival Parade, the Chic-fil-a Coliseum Central Parade, Poquoson Parade, and Phoebus Days to name a few. Other students at the studio participate as part of the Pon-pom team, Flag team, and Dance Team.
Team Competition
Shelvy's Superstars travel to Notre Dame University each summer to compete at the National Baton Twirling Association (NBTA) competition. In February, the twirlers attend the world class baton twirling championship Twirl Mania held at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex, Orlando, FL. They also perform locally for a variety of functions and events.
Solo Competition
Many members of the team compete for individual titles and awards throughout the year. Many are featured twirlers for their high school bands and many of the baton twirlers have continued their twirling at various colleges and universities across the country either as part of the twirling team or as featured twirlers. Private lessons are available upon request.
College Level
Students have been accepted at over 20 colleges and universities throughout the United States as twirlers and/or featured twirlers, many as recipients of full or partial scholarships. Twirlers have performed throughout their college years at other events to include the Kentucky Derby! Many others perform with their high school marching bands locally.
